USA Network has officially renewed "Suits" for a seventh season. The news was announced at the Television Critics Association (TCA) press tour on Wednesday.
The upcoming "Suits" Season 7 has been ordered to run for a total of 16 episodes, Deadline reported. The renewal comes ahead of the show's sixth season finale, which has yet to get a release date. Additionally, USA Network has scheduled "Suits" Season 7 to premiere sometime in 2017.
Starring Patrick J. Adams and Gabriel Macht, "Suits" Season 6 currently delves on Mike's storyline inside the prison after being charged with conspiracy to commit fraud. Back at the firm, Harvey, Louis and Jessica struggle to revive their business after facing a mass exodus in Season 5. It also stars Rick Hoffman, Gina Torres, Meghan Markle and Sarah Rafferty.
"Suits" is one of USA Network's top performing series since it debuted in 2011. Its current run on the cable network's Wednesday 9PM block is averaging more than 3 million in viewership each week. The upcoming "Suits" Season 7 will feature the show's 100th milestone episode.
USA did not address if "Suits" Season 7 will mark as the final season of the series, but the show's creator and showrunner Aaron Korsh weighed-in on the show's future, telling The Hollywood Reporter that he is certain that season six will not be their final act. He did not, however, mention his plans for the series if it goes beyond its seventh year on air.
"I'm 98 percent sure we're going to have season seven," Korsh told the publication.
"Once we get closer to it, hopefully I will know at the beginning of whatever our last season is that it's our last season."
"Suits" Season 6 airs every Wednesday at 9PM on USA.
