It seems that Yang Hyun Suk is once again in hot water, after he allegedly altered the purpose of the third floor of the six-story building he owns in Hapjeong-dong in Seoul without seeking for permission.
The act committed by the YG Entertainment chief executive officer is considered an illegal activity; hence, Yang will be notified and will be given 90 days to settle the case, Allkpop reported. A representative of Mapo-gu construction stated that Yang's building's third floor was rather used for housing even though it was intended for photography purposes. "The fourth to sixth floors are being used by the owner as residence, but the third floor, which has illegally been repurposed, seems to be under the use of another person," the representative said.
Meanwhile, this is not the first time Yang has been accused of doing illegal activity concerning his properties. In 2015, he was investigated for allegedly expanding his building without formal consent from the borough.
According to Soompi, Yang reportedly conducted an expansion of the YG Entertainment building without following proper procedure, which is clearly a violation of the municipal building code. The CEO was charged by the Municipality of Mapo for the illegal expansion and became a subject of police investigation.
Following the incident, Yang said he has ordered for the demolition of the building parts that are questionable; however, investigators learned that the YG Entertainment CEO did not entirely demolish the parts that are in question.
46-year-old record executive started out as a member of music group Seo Taiji and Boys in 1992. After their disbandment in 1996, Yang founded YG Entertainment, which is now one of the biggest record companies in Korea.
