Former Los Angeles Lakers champion point guard and New York Knicks head coach Derek Fisher is reportedly "open" to an NBA comeback according to his latest social media posts online.

The five-time NBA champion, who will turn 42 on Tuesday, had recently posted several tweets expressing his thoughts on a possible return to playing professional basketball again and some videos showing his current workouts on the court. The said posts have instigated rumors that Fisher is indeed preparing for a comeback depending on what offers he could receive in the current market.

"On-court workouts have been part of my regimen since I played my last game," Fisher said in one of his tweets, as reported by Lakers Nation. "If an NBA team expresses interest, I'm open to dialogue, but at the moment I have no steadfast plan to play again."

Apart from the messages, Fisher had also posted a video in his Instagram account showing himself working out with trainers on his dribbling and jump shots on a basketball court. The post included a hash tag that says "#Imnotdoneyet", which could only mean that he is still considering to come back from retirement.

The 6-foot-1, 210-pound point guard last played for the Oklahoma City Thunder as backup to Russell Westbrook during the 2013-2014 season, his 18th year in the league.

He played 81 games for then head coach Scott Brooks, suiting up for 17.6 minutes a night and had averaged 5.2 points, 1.5 rebounds, and 1.4 assists.

Fisher was then hired by former Lakers coach Phil Jackson to become the Knicks chief bench tactician in June 2014. He signed a five-year, $25 million with the ballclub, but his tenure was short-lived as he was fired last February after 136 games and a 40-96 win-loss record as head coach.

Meanwhile, the New York Daily News' Frank Isola said that it is a "smart move" for Fisher to try and come out of retirement as "the money being thrown around in the NBA and in China is too good to pass up".

At his age, Fisher is still in "great shape and he's still got enough left to be a quality third string point guard," Isola added.

There are still no offers for the former Lakers guard at the moment and it remains to be seen whether any team in the league will take a chance in signing him.
