The future looks bright for two "House of Cards" actresses as they will be portraying new roles in different shows in the near future. Fans of the political drama, however, are still waiting to find out what the series' fifth season holds for Kevin Spacey's Frank Underwood.
According to Deadline, Rachel Brosnahan, known as Rachel Posner in Netflix's web series, has been cast as Miriam "Midge" Maisel in Amazon's upcoming dramedy "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel." The series, set in New York in the '50s, is about a 25-year-old woman who harbors dreams of being a stand-up comedian even as she lives a seemingly perfect life. When her husband leaves her and their two kids to be with another woman, she finds herself having the need to rebuild her life, and she moves on to begin a career in stand-up comedy. Amy Sherman-Palladino, the creator of "Gilmore Girls," is the upcoming show's scriptwriter and executive producer.
"The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel" is the second Amazon project for Brosnahan as she also stars in an upcoming Woody Allen series.
Meanwhile, Entertainment Weekly reported that Elizabeth Marvel, who portrayed lawyer and U.S. Solicitor General Heather Dunbar in "House of Cards," will be part of the Claire Danes starrer "Homeland" Season 6 as president-elect Elizabeth Keane. The character, according to the article, is quite similar to Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton as they are both former New York senators.
The new season of the "Homeland" will reportedly take place between election day and the inauguration of the new United States president. Carrie, who will be back in her home in New York, will be working at a foundation that provides aid to Muslims in the country.
This means that Frank Underwood will no longer have to worry about his primary political rival "House of Cards" Season 5 But then, rumor has it that Frank will die and that the fifth season will be the show's final season. Fans will find out when the series returns, speculated to happen some time in March or April next year.
