Since the conclusion of "Naruto" in 2014, the manga had since gotten several epilogue novels featuring the quirky ninja and his friends. Now, fans of the shinobi can look forward to seeing them on the small screen once more as some of their stories will be adapted into anime.
Fans will recall that there are now six volumes in the Hiden (Secret Legend) series, namely Kakashi Hiden, Shikamaru Hiden, Akatsuki Hiden, Gaara Hiden, Sakura Hiden, and Konohagakure Hiden. In the Shinden (True Legend) series, there are three stories: Naruto: Dojunjō Ninden (Naruto: The Tale of the Utterly Purehearted Shinobi), Itachi Shinden, and Sasuke Shinden.
According to Anime News Network, three of these epilogue stories will be adapted to an anime version, namely: Shikamaru Hiden, Konoha Hiden, and Sasuke Shinden, and will be aired in winter. Viz Media reportedly plans to rename the latter as "Naruto: Sasuke's Story - Sunrise."
Shikamaru's Story centers on the genius strategist who is now the head of the Nara Clan and Team 10. The story begins when shinobi from different places go missing, including the Leaf Village's Sai. They find out that the missing ninjas are in a mysterious place called Land of Silence, and Shikamaru will have to use his skills to fight against the strongest user of genjutsu.
The second story to be adapted into an anime focuses on the other ninjas in the Leaf Village and the third centers on Naruto's best friend, Sasuke.
In related news, the "Naruto Shippuden" anime is now back on track following several filler episodes. Naruto and Sasuke are still fighting Kaguya and, of all the moves they tried, nothing seemed to work against her except for Naruto's infamous sexy jutsu that distracted her for a split second. The upcoming Episode 471, according to The BitBag, will again stay true to the manga and will feature Kakashi, who might give his students a helping hand.
