Tough times are ahead for players of Niantic's "Pokemon GO" that are located in suburban or rural areas. This is because of the very low number of PokeStops in their areas, with no indication of new stops to be added in the future.
According to Forbes, what few PokeStops found in rural and suburban areas are being removed due to locals reporting it becasue of various reasons. Niantic had previously initiated the feature to allow users to report dangerous PokeStops like graveyards and nuclear sites, among others.
The dwindling number of PokeStops in these remote locations contrasts with the large number of such places in more populated urban places where there is higher foot traffic. This will force players outside these locations to spend time to travel to areas a considerable distance away just to collect Pokemon, loot items from PokeStops and challenge gyms.
In other news, Niantic has rolled out a beta version of what is dubbed as a Nearby tracking system that will allow users to zero in more accurately to Pokemon that are close to them in a given location TechCrunch reported.
According to the same publication, the tracker adds a Sightings functionality that designates a specific Pokemon to be free in the wild and not near a Pokestop. This designates the Pokemon from those that are Nearby, or those that are within a block of a PokeStop.
"Pokemon GO" is a mobile game developed Niantic, based on the popular anime and video game characters owned by Nintendo. In this game, players are encouraged to go out and hunt for Pokemon, the fictional animals in the game that have special abilities for use in combat. The game uses a smartphone's GPS sensor and a working Internet connection to guide the player, who would need to walk, to locations where Pokemon are to be found and captured.
On the other hand, PokeStops are designated areas in the mobile game where players can collect items essential to the game, like the PokeBalls that are used to capture Pokemon.
