"Prison Break" Season 5 is definitely coming with the release of its official teaser trailer. The sneak peak teases that the events of Season 5 will lead to the show's "biggest escape" yet for its main characters.
Wentworth Miller who plays the titular role Michael Scofield will be back alongside Dominic Purcell who plays Lincoln Burrows in the show. The duo banners the continued series after a decade when it first aired on TV.
Along with its familiar premise, familiar faces will also be back to reprise their roles, Screen Rant reported. Such report is confirmed in the video when executive producer Dawn Olmstead said, "All the people that you loved from the original Prison Break will all play a very significant role in helping Michael and Lincoln get out of that country."
Apart from creative ways in breaking out of prisons, the show will also tackle layers of stories that include terrorism, unknown threats and government intrigue. At best, Miller said that the show will still rely heavily on themes of family, loyalty and sacrifice. For his part, Purcell believes that the revival will be better than the original.
In 2010, a year after the series wrapped up, Miller implied that the show will not return but Purcell said that he thought that at some point, the studio always wanted to revisit the show. Purcell went to say that as soon as he and Miller were back on board, the revival of the show was brought back on the table, Digital Spy reported.
"Wentworth and I decided, why not revisit Prison Break? - and so we went to the studio and they were excited about the idea and here we are," he said.
"Prison Break" Season 5 will have 10 episodes. The show is set for release in early 2017 on Fox.
