While a lot of video game publishers have made it a point to remaster their games, Electronic Arts has been completely avoiding that trend, focusing rather on new projects.

However, according to Game Informer, that might change as EA executive vice president Patrick Soderlund spoke about the subject at Gamescom. Soderlund stated that he could potentially remaster "Mass Effect," saying that there's a change in the current market this year: a "clear evidence that this is something that people really want."

But despite taking this into consideration, Soderlund stopped short of any confirmations on the remasters. Even if there is a strong proof in the market for wanting a "Mass Effect" remaster, deciding on it is not an easy one as EA would seriously consider many factors to avoid mistakes.

According Soderlund, there is an importance in "choosing the right brands for the right reasons at the right time," hinting that remasters must be done really well. He would hope to achieve that so players would not only feel familiar with a game they have played before but a game that "feels so much better in this new shape and form."

However, Gamespot previously stated last October, that EA Chief Operating Officer Peter Moore criticized the practice of remastering games, stating that it "feels like pushing stuff out because you've run out of ideas."

Aside from EA also not having enough time to work on remastering their games, Moore mentioned that Electronic Arts is "a company that just likes to push forward."

Many game publishers have already attempted to remaster their titles with mixed results. Activision also  initially avoided the trend of remastering games but now has joined the arms race, currently working on a "full-on remaster" on "Modern Warfare."

In the meantime, gamers would also be looking forward to the upcoming title in the series, "Mass Effect: Andromeda". Although no further gameplay has been shown yet, Soderlund said that the gameplay will soon be revealed. He added that the game will get the "right type of exposure at the right time"

"Mass Effect: Andromeda" will be released between January and March 2017.
