Bogum Ilbo, fans club of actor Park Bo-gum, donated solar lamp to Africa under his name. The donation was made to support the actor's upcoming period drama through Christian relief organization Worldshare.

The solar lamps were donated to Africa because the continent suffers a chronic electricity shortage. Therefore, a solar lamp is the best solution for the country due to its abundant sunlight. Prior to that, Bogum Ilbu also donated desks and chairs to China and built well in Cambodia earlier this year, Yonhap News Agency reported.

The 23-year-old actor is well-known for his good personality besides his great acting. Park has played many challenging roles, from a psychopath in "Hello Monster" drama which aired in KBS, and also an awkward and genius Baduk player in tvN's drama "Reply 1988."

His current drama is a historical drama titled "Love in the Moonlight" co-starring Kim Yoo-jung. The drama is about the unlikely romance between a crown prince, played by Park, and an 18-year-old girl masquerading as a eunuch, played by Kim, Korea Herald reported. Park admitted that he was interested to play the role of crown prince Lee Young when he read the script.

"As soon as I read the script, I really wanted to get on board," he said in a press conference on Thursday to promote the drama.

Park plays a real-life crown prince Lee Young. The prince was given the title in 1819, wherein he was then appointed as ruler of Joseon with the title King Munjo in 1827 and reigned for three years. King Munjo passed away at the young age of 20.

Writer Yoon Yi-soo wrote the "Love in the Moonlight" as a fiction. The novel was first published as Naver's web novel in 2013. Following its web success, the novel then published as a printed book in 2015. In December 2015, KBS planned to adapt the novel into television drama, and the shooting began in June 2016.

In order to celebrate the airing of its first episode, Park's fans club Bogum Ilbo decided to donate solar lamps to Africa.
