"Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales" will undergo major changes as Disney, producer Jerry Bruckheimer and co-directors Espen Sandberg and Joachim Ronning are planning to give Johnny Depp's character a minimal role and let the fifth installment focus on a story of the young Jack Sparrow, who will be portrayed by De La Torre, lead singer of band De La Torre. This is in line with Depp's divorce settlements with Amber Heard which caused him to act out on set and stack up absences that prolonged the shooting of scenes for the movie.
The film will also delve around the relationship of Henry, portrayed by Brenton Thwaites, with his father, Will Turner, portrayed by Orlando Bloom, who is under the curse of Davy Jones, Gold Coast Bulletin reported.
The quest for the Trident of Poseidon will be the center arc for the movie since acquiring the powerful artifact would let the bearer rule over the seas. Jack Sparrow wants to seize the trident to save himself from the threat of Captain Salazar, portrayed by Javier Bardem, who seeks revenge and has brought a ghost crew. The trident will also help Henry save his father from the curse of Davy Jones.
The higher-ups were drawn to this decision with the problematic situation of Depp's divorce that affected his work ethics and, ultimately, the ongoing shoot of the multi-billion blockbuster franchise. The divorce settlement allowed Heard to acquire a total of $7 million, where she announced that she has no desire over money and decided to give it to two charities.
Heard will donate half of it to the American Civil Liberties Union with the intention of helping women who are going through violence, and the other half to the Children's Hospital of Los Angeles. Heard said that through this she hoped to "help those less able to defend themselves", as reported by BBC.
