"Resident Evil 7: Biohazard," the upcoming horror survival video game from Capcom, is set to be released early next year, and there is now a demo video that gives gamers a taste of what they're going face.
The 3 1/2-minute demo video titled "Lantern," posted on YouTube, starts off with the protagonist leaving a message to someone named Ethan, but before she is able to finish, she sees a woman carrying a lantern (identified as Marguerite Baker) coming her way. The view pans to the other direction showing what looks like a prison door.
She pushes the door open and runs away, crossing a run-down hanging bridge leading to the door of an old house. The creepy character walks around from room to room, muttering things like she's going to feed the woman to her babies, and the protagonist tries to find places to hide.
The music and the protagonist's heavy breathing, as well as the loud pounding of her heart, give the video a feeling of suspense and thrills. According to Eurogamer, "Resident Evil 7" features several of these playable scenes that would ultimately give the gamer a picture of what is happening.
"Resident Evil 7: Biohazard" is for Windows PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. It also has support for PlayStation VR, and Capcom is reportedly trying to make sure that playing it on the virtual reality headset won't make gamers sick.
In a recent interview, producer Masachika Kawata said that the version shown at the Gamescom is an improved version of the one featured at the Electronic Entertainment Expo or E3.
"We've learned through that kind of experience what kind of adjustments and optimisations we need to make in order to make it as comfortable as possible for as many people as possible," he told Metro.
"Resident Evil 7: Biohazard" will be released on Jan. 24, 2017.
