A couple of months before "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 premieres, Executive Producer Julie Plec has a surprise for the supporters of the American TV series. During her recent interview, the showrunner revealed that the eighth and final season will show off familiar faces back on screen.
Plec told Entertainment Weekly that she would like to bring back some familiar faces for one last time. "I will say that at some point over the course of this season, I would like to see everyone's face that I can possibly see again, whether it be in the finale or in flashbacks or the characters who are still alive finding their way through Mystic Falls one last time," the EP said.
The announcement thrilled "Delena" fans as this would mean a possible reunion between Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev's characters Damon and Elena. Dobrev left the show during its season 6; however, the 27-year-old actress has always been open on the idea of coming back for the finale of "The Vampire Diaries."
"Nina has always said that if there's something for her to do in the series finale that she will be there to do it," Plec revealed.
Meanwhile, Dobrev's IMDB profile reportedly states the actress will make an appearance on the 16th episode of "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8. According to iTechPost, the actress will have a brief comeback to finish the storyline of Elena. Despite the news, fans are still looking forward for a "Delena" reunion before the American TV series ends.
As there were no specifications mentioned regarding the comeback of Dobrev's character, fans are curious whether "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 will have a flashforward for the return of old characters. Plec said she and Co-creator Kevin Williamson are still in talks for the finale of the American TV series.
"The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 is slated to return on October 21 at 8:00 pm on The CW.
