"Elementary" has tapped "The Mentalist" alum Owain Yeoman to guest star on its upcoming 100th episode in Season 5.
TV Line reported that the actor will play Sherlock's boarding school classmate on the milestone episode, airing on Oct. 30. Yeoman's character, a scientist, will figure into the storyline when Sherlock turns to him for assistance about a murder case involving asteroids. The episode, according to the publication, is titled "Henny Penny The Sky Is Falling."
"The hour, revolves around the murder of a man who was looking for better and more efficient ways to identify what are known as Earth-killer asteroids," executive producer Rob Doherty previewed.
"So there's mystery on top of mystery as to why anyone would want to kill someone who might be able to help NASA locate and, hopefully, divert a small planetoid hurdling towards Earth."
After playing a cop on "The Mentalist," for seven seasons, Yeoman also guest starred on "Supergirl" as Vartox. On "Elementary" Season 5, Doherty teased that he will be seen playing a "fun" and "very colorful" character. However, it remains to be seen if viewers will also see him interacting with Holmes' partner, Watson.
In addition to Yeoman, "Elementary" Season 5 will also feature the guest starring appearance of "True Blood" actor Nelsan Ellis. According to Entertainment Weekly, he will play Shinwell Johnson, a former drug dealer struggling to get his life back after his imprisonment. The actor is booked to appear for at least three episodes, beginning on the Season 5 premiere.
"Elementary" stars Jonny Lee Miller, Aidan Quinn, and Lucy Liu. Season 5 premieres on Sunday, Pct. 2 at 10PM on CBS.
