Actor Ryan Reynolds went as far as paying the "Deadpool" writers out of his pocket to have them appear on set. Writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick confirmed the information in an interview.
"We were on set every day. Interestingly, Ryan wanted us there, we were on the project for six years. It was really a core creative team of us, Ryan, and the director Tim Miller. Fox, interestingly, wouldn't pay for us to be on set. Ryan Reynolds paid out of his own money, out of his own pocket," they told Comic Book.
Reynolds had always been open in his desire to play "Deadpool" in the big screen. He went out of his way to get the writing duo on set to ensure that the filming will be smooth and successful.
Production for "Deadpool" had been in the backburner since 2004 until Reynolds appeared as Wade Wilson in "X-Men: Origins" in 2009 where the idea of a solo "Deadpool" film was revived. However, it was the "leaked" screen test footage with Reynolds that sealed the deal with Fox to develop the movie because that was when the film started to gain serious traction from fans, Screen Rant reported.
Since then, "Deadpool" went to become a success by becoming the highest grossing R-Rated movie of all time. As such, a sequel is currently in the works with Reynolds, Miller, Reese and Wernick returning as a team.
For now, it has been rumored that more X-Men entities are set to join "Deadpool 2" including Cable and Domino. However, it is still unclear whether the sequel will be an original storyline or based on a particular arc in the comic books.
