ABC on Wednesday has released the official trailer of Grey's Anatomy Season 13. Based on the clip, it is palpable that Alex will face serious circumstances for beating up De Luca last season.
"Grey's Anatomy" will kick off Season 13 in a pretty gloomy tone. The official trailer sees DeLuca fighting for his life inside the hospital - following his violent altercation with Alex in Season 12. While this is the first time Alex has manifested such behavior, it will be a challenge for the Grey Sloan surgeon to overcome this storyline - especially if his medical career is on the line. It remains to be seen whether or not he will face legal charges or even imprisonment for inflicting serious physical injuries to a co-worker.
In a report from TV Guide, series star Kelly McCreary said that there will be an "intense fallout" from Alex's past actions. The actress, who plays DeLuca's ex, also hinted that this arc will build up tension among the doctors inside Grey Sloan Memorial.
"The doctors in the hospital [have] to reckon with the notion that one of their own could have been so violent," McCreary continued.
"It causes some friction among the doctors. There's definitely sides being taken."
The premiere episode of "Grey's Anatomy" Season 13 will also delve on April's storyline as she faces the journey of motherhood. According to the official plot description shared by The Futon Critic, April and her former mother-in-law, Catherine will clash over the new baby. Elsewhere, fans will see Richard helping Jo as she makes a life-altering decision.
"Grey's Anatomy" Season 13 Episode 1 "Undo" airs on Thursday, Sept. 22 at 8PM on ABC.
