As part of the company's bid to expand its live action camera portfolio, tech firm Sony recently launched two new products. Sony recently launched the FDR-X3000 and HDR-AS300 live action cameras that sport advanced image stabilization technology.
The biggest difference between the two models is that the FDR-X3000 model supports 4K Ultra HD video. On the other hand, the HDR-AS300 model only supports Full HD video recording.
Sony boasts that its two newest cameras sport a new image stabilization feature called Balanced Optical SteadyShot. Sony said that the lens and the camera are fused in such a way that the two components move together resulting in a more polished recording. Sony added that because of this new technology, users can essentially mount the cameras on a bicycle while recording and the resulting product will still be smooth, according to NDTV.
Both the HDR-AS300 and the FDR-X3000 sport a Sony Exmore R CMOS sensor and a BIONZ X image processor. Both the HDR-AS300 and the FDR-X3000 supports an underwater housing making them splash proof and water proof for up to 60 meters.
The FDR-X3000 can capture 4K videos at 100Mbps, and can shoot 1080p videos at 120fps refresh rate. The HDR-AS300 can capture 1080p videos at 50Mbps, and can shoot 720p videos at 120fps refresh rate.
Two models of the Sony FDR-X3000 will be released. The standard model will cost $400, the model that supports a live view remote called FDR-X3000R will cost $550, according to CNet.
The Sony HDR-AS300 will cost $300, and the HDR-AS300R model with live view remote will cost $450. Sony plans to release the two new action cameras in North America before the end of the month. The live remote gives users a view from the camera, as well as full controls like turning the camera's on and off.
