When "Homeland" returns for Season 6, viewers will see a very different Agent Peter Quinn.
In a report from Entertainment Weekly, "Homeland" showrunner Alex Gansa confirmed that Quinn has survived last year's incident which left the badass spy in a vegetative state. However, when viewers tune in for Season 6, Gansa warned that they should expect for the character to be a completely changed man. For now, details on Quinn's condition are still being kept under wraps.
"I would just say that he suffered a major stroke last season," Gansa said.
"So you're going to see a very changed and altered Quinn this year."
As to how Quinn will figure into "Homeland" Season 6, Gansa explained that the character will represent the casualties of war to their audience. He also addressed whether or not Quinn's relationship with Carrie will form new grounds - saying that "tension" will be felt between the duo in the new installments.
In addition to Quinn's storyline, "Homeland" will also be tackling the US presidential election in Season 6. New characters who will be key players on their politically-centered storyline will also be introduced, including Elizabeth Marvel (House of Cards) as the newly elected female president, Robert Knepper (Prison Break) as a politician, Hill Harper (Limitless) as the US chief of staff, and Patrick Sabongui (The Flash) as a CUNY law professor.
In other developments, "Showtime" has renewed Homeland for two more seasons. According to Deadline, the Claire Danes-starred series will continue until season 8. It was announced by the cable network's president David Nevins at the recent Television Critics Association (TCA) press tour.
"Homeland was deserving of a multi-year pickup, and that's what Howard has achieved with his enthusiasm," Showtime's programming head Gary Levine told reporters during the panel.
"Homeland" Season 6 premieres on Sunday, Jan. 15 at 9PM on Showtime.
