The tech community was recently stirred after an alleged benchmark result of the upcoming Xiaomi Mi 5S was leaked on Chinese social networking platform Weibo. The leaked screenshot appears to be a benchmark result from Antutu and it showed that the Xiaomi Mi 5S scored an impressive 164,002 points.
If the benchmark result really belongs to the Xiaomi Mi 5S, it will give the tech community a hint of what to expect with regards to the computing power of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 chipset. Aside from its powerful chipset, the Mi 5S also has 6GB of memory and an Adreno 530 graphics processing unit. On the other hand, these benchmarks are artificial and do not necessarily correlate with real-word performance.
Several leaked information in the past have unceremoniously revealed some of the specs of the Xiaomi Mi 5S. The phone is expected to sport a 5.15-inch IPS display with 1440 x 2560 resolution. Powering the device is the previously mentioned Snapdragon 821 chipset from Qualcomm with a quad-core processor composed of two 2.4GHz Kryo cores, and two 2.2GHz Kryo cores.
The Xiaomi Mi 5S will sport 6GB of memory. The phone is expected to come in two storage variants, 64GB and 128GB, both are expected to support storage expansion. All models will come with a 3490mAh battery pack, according to GSM Arena.
On the camera aspect, the Mi 5S is expected to have a 16-megapixel rear facing camera with phase detection, f/1.8 aperture, 4-axis OIS, and a dual-LED flash, according to Android Authority. The phone will also have a 4-megapixel front facing selfie snapper. The main camera can record 2160p videos at 30 frames per second.
The Xiaomi Mi 5S is slated to be a premium device. Expected sensors that will come with the phone are the fingerprint scanner, proximity sensor, compass, accelerometer, and barometer. The phone will run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with Xiaomi's own MIUI 7.0 custom skin on top.
The Xiaomi Mi 5S is expected to be launched on Sept. 27. The phone will come in three color options: black, gold, and white.
