South Korean singer, songwriter, and DJ Jonghyun of the KPop band SHINee admits that he got emotional on fellow group member Minho’s self-composed song “Don’t Let Me Go” in their newly released album “1 on 1”.

During the press conference for "1 on 1”, Jonghyun stated that Minho’s “Don’t Let Me Go” made him shed some tears while listening. He also added that the song is one of his top picks in the album.

“When we revealed the song first at our concert, I stopped while changing outfits and cried a lot. Personally, it was really moving,” said Jonghyun as quoted by Soompi.

As a response, Minho disclosed that he was surprised by Jonghyun’s reaction towards his work. He added: “Key and I wrote the lyrics for the song. Listening to the song with my eyes closed, I kept imagining something. I used those imaginations to write the lyrics.”

Meanwhile, during the event, Jonghyun also explained why the group chose a retro concept for their 5th full album. According to the KPop idol as quoted by All KPop: “We utilized retro fashion and backgrounds profusely. It could be seen as a risky introduction to retro. At first, we worried whether it would come out chic or not, but because the title track is retro, we went with the retro vibe all around”.

He added: “We will take on retro the SHINee way. However, there's a natural feel to it, so middle school and high school students these days might wonder what it is. But because it's a different image, it'll be more noticeable."

Jonghyun joined SHINee in 2008 alongside Onew, Key, Minho and Taemin. He is the main vocalist of the band.
