Miami Heat will have to relocate their training venue to Houston amid the threat of Hurricane Matthew. Meanwhile in the first preseason game, the Heat defeated Washington Wizards 106-95 on Oct. 4 at Verizon Center, Washington.
As the East Coast prepare to brace the impact of dreadful Category 4 hurricane Matthew that heads toward South Florida, the sports landscape also affected. Miami Heat will have to relocate their training in Houston in light of the Hurricane Matthew threat to South Florida, according to Sun Sentinel.
The Heat previously planned to continue their practice in the home stadium the AmericanAirlines Arena before they went to Kansas City on Saturday for preseason game against the Minnesota Timberwolves in Kansas City. But, they had to change the venue to Houston Rockets training facility.
Meanwhile Heat began to evolve into a new team after all the member of 'The Big Three' is no longer with the team. In the first preseason game against Wahingtn Wizards on Tuesday, Miami Heat defeated the Wizards 106-95.
Although center Hasan Whiteside led the scoring with 20 points on 9-of-12 shooting, but the rest of the team also play significant role. Especially, the Heat's new shooting guard Dion Waiters that showed he had more to give than what people expected from him, Miami Herald reported.
The media expected Waiters to fill the shoes which Dwyane Wade left behind. But he did more than that. In his first game with the Heat, Waiters made 12 points from 6-of-10 shooting and passed eight assists, the team highest.
Miami Heat head coach Eric Spoelstra praised his unselfishness. He said that since the first training day, Waiters has been very good in making play. He is capable more than just scoring, but also create space and play in transition.
"For eight straight days, he's been very unselfish," Spoelstra said. "He's been consistently finding the open man and making the right play."
Miami Heat will continue to repolish its arsenal as the team will head to Kansas City in another preseason game against Minnesota Timberwolves on Saturday.
