"Ant-Man" actress Evangeline Lilly confirmed that the origin of The origin of The Wasp will be explored in "Ant Man 2." She also confirmed that the character will have a role in the fourth "Avengers" film.
In an interview at the New York Comic-con, Lilly said that her character will not be appearing in the third "Avengers" film, "Infinity War." Instead, The Wasp will appear in fourth and yet-to-be titled "Avengers" film, Blastr reported.
"Following that one, there's an Avengers series coming out, I believe it's a two parter, and, um, the Wasp won't be in the first part, she'll be in the second part because they want to preserve that reveal for Ant-Man and the Wasp," she said.
Note that "Ant-Man and the Wasp" comes after the release of "Avengers: Infinity Wars." The actress went to say that the plot for the second "Ant-Man" installment he be about how The Wasp came to be, Screen Rant reported.
"I'm excited because it's essentially going to be, um, the origin of the Wasp. Of course, we're going to see the Wasp for the first time take on the mantle, and put on the suit, and fly about, and do her thing," she said.
In the comic books, the Wasp suit is worn by Janet Van Dyne, wife of Hank Pym (Ant-man) and also one of the founding member of the Avengers. In the MCU reiteration of the character, the Wasp suit will now be worn by Janet's daughter, Hope Van Dyne, played by Evangeline Lily.
"Ant-Man and the Wasp" premieres on July 6, 2018 while the fourth "Avengers" instalment won't be on big screens until May 3, 2019.
