Bollywood director Shyam Benegal has finally clarified on rumors that he is planning to make a movie on India Pakistan relations with Pakistani actor Fawad Khan in lead.
Benegal on Wednesday dismissed the rumors that he had approached Pakistani star for his next project based on Indo Pak peace. The national award winning filmmaker made it clear that he has no plan to make a movie on India Pakistan relations.
"Why would I make a film to promote Indo-Pak peace?" Benegal told spotboye news portal. He clarified that a young man had approached him to produce a movie on the Indo-Pak peace but he declined to be associated with it.
"The news has only come out because of an idiot called Harsh Narayan. I had met him in the past. He asked me to produce his film and I categorically told him that his subject is of NO interest to me," the "Welcome to Sajjanpur" director said. "Later, he told me that he wanted to associate my name with his film to raise funds. I surely didn't expect that just these kinds of conversations with him would boomerang on me so badly. I am extremely upset with him."
Khan's upcoming Bollywood movie "Ae Dil Hai Mushkil" is facing threat from a Mumbai-based Marathi nationalist group Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) due to his presence in the movie, Hindustan Times reported. Khan's "Humsafar" co-actor Mahira Khan's debut Indian movie "Raees" is also facing similar threat from MNS. A powerful group of Indian producers recently placed a ban on Pakistani actors working in India in wake of Uri terror attack that left at least 18 Indian soldiers dead.
