Det. Amy Santiago's father is coming to town. "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" has tapped "24: Legacy" actor Jimmy Smits to play the role in an upcoming Season 4 episode.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Smitts will play Mr. Santiago, described as a no-nonsense retired cop who loves Amy very much. Set to appear in Season 4's Thanksgiving episode, Jake will do anything to impress Smitts' overprotective character. Viewers will see him make his "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" debut on the show's Nov. 22nd episode.
Smits has also appeared on "NYPD Blue." In the upcoming "24: Legacy," the actor plays a powerful US senator who is married to the former head of CTU. It will premiere on Feb. 5 on FOX.
"Brooklyn Nine-Nine" has featured an A-list set of guest stars in Season 4. The list includes Maya Rudolph (SNL), Rhea Perlman (The Mindy Project), and Matt Walsh (Veep). Its most recent outing titled "The Night Shift," featured Zooey Deschanel as a guest star on their special crossover episode with New Girl.
Meanwhile, the upcoming Halloween episode of "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" will feature a heist storyline. As revealed in the official plot synopsis, Jake and the rest of the squad members will take part in a quest to win the new defending title of "Ultimate Detective Slash Genius." FOX will air the episode on Tuesday, Oct. 18.
"Brooklyn Nine-Nine" stars Andy Samber, Andre Braugher, Terry Crews, Melissa Fumero, Joe Lo Truglio, Stephanie Beatriz, Chelsea Perettu, Dirk Blocker and Joel McKinnon Miller.
