The latest episode on ABC’s action-packed CIA-themed series opened with Shelby receiving some troubling news from an even troubling source, and the Citizens’ Liberation Front (CLF) has taken several hostages. Meanwhile, Miranda directed Alex and Ryan to lie low in the meantime as one CIA operative was killed by suicide in Berlin.

Miranda had the suspicion that a rogue faction inside the CIA is responsible for that staged suicide. On the other hand, in the flashback, our future agents have received some troubling news. Dayana was in trouble in her current job, Harry had some vague medical results, and a drug dealer is somehow coming after Leon.

Ryan then received from Liam O’Connor a folder containing a mysterious key. The opens a safety deposit box and the contents of that box has pretty much bothered Ryan. Afterwards, Owen passed out to each recruits a biofeedback monitor and directed them to mingle with actual agents in service.

Alex had the bright idea of cloning Owen’s phone which contains all the recording of the monitors and asked Ryan to ask the agents some pressing questions, for them to see how their monitor’s heart rate spike. Upon doing that, they were able to learn that Hell Lee I probably the one responsible in planting the bug discovered in episode 3.

Ryan then went out to open Liam’s safety deposit box. It turned out that the box only contains a baseball cap and a note from Lydia. The whole thing was only a ruse to stress the hell out of Ryan, and it did.

Back in the present, Alex was able to make contact with Raina. She learned that the CLF wanted to kill some of the hostages if they are not traded with the wanted terrorists who were pardoned last season. So Alex suggested to her co-league to pass on a secret message to Miranda, “boiler room” which traces back to Liam’s fake bomb last season. “A fake threat luring us into real danger,” she said.

At the FBI, Miranda and Shelby did not agree as to how to respond with the terror group. Miranda wants to trade but Shelby does not. Miranda and Shelby were able to track down the hacker and arrested him. When left alone, Miranda made it clear that she was part of something shady.

“You didn’t live up to your end of the bargain,” she says unhappily. The hacker then agreed to the trade but tipped off Shelby to check her work e-mail way back in 2002.

During the trade, Raina was able to get close enough to Miranda to mention “boiler room”. But Miranda did not give much reaction. It is either she knew what it means or she didn’t let her on. Alex then opened fire from a window above, alerting everyone to her presence.

Once he is in the CLF’s clutches, Boyer said, “It wasn’t supposed to go this far,” and grabbed one of the baddies’ guns and shot himself in the head. Meanwhile, the CLF stormed the building Alex is in. So she pulled down her mask, shoulders her weapon and said, “OK, let’s do this.”

At the FBI, while everyone is celebrating, Shelby delved into her old inbox and found a message from Boyer about Miranda saying “She’s one of them.”
