When we thought "Deadpool 2" was hanging precariously on a thread due to Tim Miller's departure, there have been reports of a new director underway to take his spot. Rumors say that "John Wick" director David Leitch was the best choice to helm the project.

The Hollywood Reporter mentioned about this as it reported seeing Leitch meeting up with Wade Wilson/Deadpool actor Ryan Reynolds yesterday to talk about the job. Despite other reports saying that he was initially the frontrunner continuing where Tim Miller left off, the studio behind "Deadpool" are still looking for other potential directors, while no official offer with Leitch has been made yet.

Just so we all know, David Leitch was also involved in the "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" movie, where he participated as the action coordinator. The movie, as a reminder, was when we were introduced to Ryan Reynolds as Wade Wilson himself.

In addition to that, Deadline also reports that other directors are in the lineup, particularly "Luke Cage" director Magnus Martens and "The Martian" writer Drew Goddard. But even with these two candidates, the "John Wick" director still remains the top of the list of choices for the sequel to "Deadpool."

Going back on the previous issue, the original director for the film, Tim Miller, has officially left the project for the sequel. Miller had plans for "Deadpool 2," making it more "stylish" in its approach that cost three times than that of the original. He also wanted "Friday Night Lights" star Kyle Chandler to star as the mutant Cable. However, with all those plans in mind, both Ryan Reynolds and 20th Century Fox rejected them prompting Miller to leave for good.
