NBA Regular Season 2016-17: DeMar DeRozan 30-point streak ends in the game against Sacramento Kings

The high 30-point scoring game of DeMar DeRozan finally ended in the home game loss against Sacramento Kings on Sunday. Although he still scored two digit with 23 points, but he was unable to single handedly lift the team.

DeRozan posted 23 points in front of 19,000 suporters in Air Canada Center, Toronto. This ended his 30-points scoring streak in the 91-96 loss against the Kings, Toronto Star reported. DeRozan also contributed 3 assists and 4 rebounds.

His tandem point guard Kyle Lowry tallied 15 points and 10 assists, while the rest of the team was unable to outpace the strong play from the Kings big men.

Sacramento Kings forwards Rudy Gay and DeMarcus Cousins posed a strong pressure against the high speed Raptors led by Lowry and DeRozan. Gay made 23 points, while Cousins followed with 22 points. Both big men also posted one steal each, with 14 rebounds for Cousins and 5 for Gay.

The result of the game is disappointing for the Raptors, because they should be a better team than the Kings. So there are many pressures was given to them after this loss. Especially DeRozan’s 30-point scoring game ended in the loss against the Kings.

“It’s only one loss, but there’s a lot of pressure on our team because we’re one of the better teams,” Lowry said after the game.”I put a lot of pressure on myself because I’m one of our better players. We just have to play better as a group and myself individually.”

Prior to this game, DeRozan has been one of the hottest topic in the NBA with his Michael Jordan style of game. He became the only player beside the Airness to score more than 30 points in the first five regular season games. According to note taken by CBS Sports, DeRozan made his high scoring games without even posting a three-point shoot.
