The much loved Daenerys Targaryen of HBO's hit "Game of Thrones" series is announced to play a part in the upcoming "Han Solo" film. Emilia Clarke has been announced by Disney to play a role in the "Han Solo" which is still being kept at wraps for now.
The only information revealed for Clarke's role is that she will be playing a character that will "round out a dynamic cast of characters Han and Chewie will encounter on their adventures," Star Wars reported. Clarke is joining Alden Ehrenreich and Donald Glover, who were previously cast as Han Solo and Lando Calrissian, respectively, which is set prior to the original Star Wars trilogy.
According to Screen Rant, the casting of a big-name talent like Emilia Clarke would mean that her role will not be minor one. This would mean that her character will probably bode well into the general narrative of the film. But her casting could disappoint many advocates for diversifying roles in Hollywood as this is contrary to earlier reports that Lucasfilms has been looking for a non-white actress for the lead role.
However, film critics are also saying that diversifying roles in Hollywood films should not compromise that fact that an actor fits most to the character being cast for. Clarke has obviously made an impression to the film's director duo Phil Lord and Chris Miller during her audition, what matters most is finding the right fit for the part. Apparently, there are no reports yet as to whether Clarke signed a multi-film deal with Lucasfilms. If she did, that could mean that she will be taking part in the speculated planned "Hans Solo' trilogy.
