After YG Entertainment's announcement of their nonparticipation in the upcoming 2016 Mnet Asian Music Awards, a representative of Lee Hyori addressed reports claiming the artist will make a comeback on the stage of the annual event.

The 2016 Mnet Asian Music Awards is scheduled on Dec. 2 and will be held at the AsiaWorld-Expo in Hong Kong. Lee Hyori's representative said they will have to miss this year's awarding ceremony since the idol is still working on her comeback album.

"Performing on MAMA is very tempting but the award show is already so close while she still needs time for album preparation. We have no choice but to give up [MAMA]. It's first and foremost to focus on her album," a rep stated as per Allkpop.

As part of her comeback. Lee Hyori is confirmed to have signed an exclusive contract with Kiwi Media Group, Soompi cited. Speaking about the artist's comeback with her newest label, the company said Lee Hyori is expected to release her comeback album early next year.

Furthermore, Kiwi Media Group added the label's CEO, Kim Hyung Seok, even travelled to Jeju Island to talk to Lee Hyori.

"Lee Hyori is very ambitious, so she is thinking a lot about musical direction and attempting new things. The process for writing the songs has already begun," the label revealed.

The company added Kim will help Lee Hyori in writing her new music. Also, the singer will collaborate with the producer of her "10 Minutes" song for her comeback album.

Reports suggested Lee Hyori's upcoming album will be her first release in three years.
