Preview
Atlanta is slowly dropping in the Eastern Conference standings after losing five of their last six matches. The team is now tied at second place with the Toronto Raptors in the Eastern table, only 3.5 games behind conference leaders and defending champions Cleveland Cavaliers.
The Hawks were defeated by the upstart Los Angeles Lakers, 109-94, on Sunday night at the Staples Center to drop their second game in a row, as per the Orange County Register.
Dwight Howard had a big game with 19 points, nine rebounds, three assists, one steal, and two blocks, but it was not enough to overcome the depth of the young Lakers during the match.
Kent Bazemore top-scored for head coach Mike Budenholzer with 21 points on 8-for-16 shooting. He also had one rebound, four assists, and one steal.
The backcourt pair of Dennis Schroder and Kyle Korver both scored in double figures with 11 and 10 points respectively with the former grabbing four boards and dishing off eight assists as well.
Meanwhile, the Warriors have found a rhythm since their 20-point loss to the Lakers earlier this month. The team has won 11 consecutive games since then and have beaten the Lakers twice to get their payback as well.
In their most recent game, Golden State routed the Minnesota Timberwolves, 115-102, also at their home court last Saturday, the SF Gate reported.
Reigning NBA MVP Stephen Curry spearheaded head coach Steve Kerr's squad with 34 points, eight boards, six assists, and two steals while former league MVP Kevin Durant backed him up with 28 points, 10 rebounds, five assists, and six blocks. Klay Thompson had 23 points, six rebounds, two assists, and one steal.
Draymond Green missed the game with a left ankle contusion and is questionable in this game versus the Hawks.
Prediction
Atlanta is 4-5 on the road so far this season while Golden State is almost unbeatable at home with a 6-1 slate. A 12th straight win for the Warriors is expected.
