‘No Man’s Sky’ receives MAJOR update including new features, game modes, fixes and more

Hello Games seems to be delivering on its promises as it launches a HUGE update for "No Man's Sky" called the "Foundation Update," that is said to improve a LOT of its gameplay. 

The "Foundation Update" for "No Man's Sky" is a patch (1.1) that introduces the game's initial base-building, with Hello Games saying that it is a foundation for "foundation for things to come." The developer also mentioned that this is the first of many free updates for "No Man's Sky." From the game's website, here's a break down on what to expect from the update:

• There are now three different game modes: Normal, which is the original gameplay experience; Creative, which promises an unlimited universe and big bases; and Survival, which ups the challenge and tests explorers' endurance.
• Players can now establish home bases, which are used for shelter, storage and alien technology research
• Players can farm crops, including new plants and resources
• Players can add save points anywhere they want
• Messages can be left for other explorers at communications terminals
• Freighters can be bought and manned by aliens for added storage - and overall storage capacity has been increased in inventory slots as well
• A streamlined quick menu is available to make looking through inventory easier
• The PS4 version has a photo mode, while the PC has several bug fixes and visual improvements

The patch notes has given a lot of details on the improvements the patch brings. "No Man's Sky" lead designer Sean Murray, who has been notoriously silent since a few moments after the game's launch, has finally spoken up to break the news about the huge update since his last tweet in Aug. 18.

 "No Man's Sky" received a lot of scorn for what the majority saw a failure to deliver on promised features. Numerous players focused their anger towards the studio, resulting to the hack of their Twitter account and an investigation to the developer's possible false advertising.

The "Foundation Update" was announced earlier this week, with backlash and drama that followed. However, Hello Games hopes that the numerous "free updates" will finally deliver the more substantial gameplay experience to those who still want to give the game a chance.
