Just like any other South Koreans, celebrities are reacting to National Assembly's decision to impeach President Park Geun Hye after the leader was accused of sharing confidential information to a colleague.
On Friday, 234 lawmakers voted to impeach the South Korean leader against 56 oppositions, CNN reported. Following the decision, the Constitutional Court of South Korea will begin the deliberation of Park's impeachment from the highest post.
On the other hand, the South Korean leader appeared on TV to apologize for causing chaos in the country. "I solemnly accept the voices of the National Assembly and the people and sincerely hope that the current confusion will come to an end in an orderly manner," Park said.
The president continued, "I will respond to the impeachment judgment of the constitutional court and the investigation of the special prosecutors, following the procedures set by the constitution and the law with (a) calm mind-set and then will accept its decision."
Reports stated the deliberation with take 180 days, and while the process is ongoing, Prime Minister Hwang Kyo Ahn will serve as the acting president of South Korea. Hwang promised to lead the country "in a correct and transparent manner."
Meanwhile, many celebrities expressed their agreement to the decision of National Assembly. Artists like Hyosung, Chansung, Ryu JoonYeol and Lee Joon took to their social media accounts to speak their minds on the political gaffe of the country, Allkpop reported.
Before the decision was released, 2PM's Chansung posted, "I hope today won't be a shameful day in history," referring to the ongoing voting process in the National Assembly.
While Ryu uploaded a photo of the traffic lights and said he is grateful that the green light is finally on. Reports stated the actor has been vocal about his stand on political issues since he started.
