It seems that fans can finally see in the big screen the adaptation of Stephen King's "The Dark Tower" after spending several years in different stages of pre-production. The upcoming "The Dark Tower" film stars Idris Alba as Roland Deschain, also known as The Gunslinger, and Matthew McConaughey as the villainous Man in Black, is due for release next year.
According to Screen Rant, the first trailer of the film is set to be released sometime this month of December. This will be the first sneak peek of this much-awaited film adaptation which was reported earlier to be released in an unspecified date but definitely in summer 2017.
But prior to the trailer, an image from "The Dark Tower" film was released, that has stirred interest among fans. The image was discovered by Jordan Maison, Editor-in-Chief of Cinelinx, who then posted the image on his Twitter account which has served as a first glimpse of the two lead stars in their roles.
While the released image is still vague, it is already enough to let fans see the intense tension between Alba and McConaughey's characters. Deschain and the Man in Black were rivals and theirs was one of the most intense that King has ever created.
"The Dark Tower" is a western, sci fi, horror, and fantasy genres rolled into one that King has perfectly blended. It follows the quest of Roland Deschain to find the mythical and legendary Dark Tower.
The initial release of "The Dark Tower" has been delayed by producer Sony Pictures. The reason for the delay is due to the need of increasing its lean budget of $60 million to hasten the editing and visual effects development to make it to the original February 2017 release. Instead of increasing the budget, Sony opted to keep it within the previously set figures as rushing the post-production would entail higher cost.
