Cleveland Cavaliers have another health problem after Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love was out. LeBron James was sick and sent home to rest and missing the practice session on Tuesday Jan. 3. Fortunately, he is able to play against Chicago Bulls, but the Bulls defeated the Cavs 106-94.
According to Cleveland.com, James came home carrying Tylenol PM and Airborne after the 90-82 victory over New Orleans Pelicans on Monday, Jan. 2. He said that he was not feeling well. James had a flu which also troubled forward Channing Frye.
This season, the Cavaliers have been troubled with injury lately after Chris Andersen’s ACL tear, J.R. Smith’s thumb surgery, Mike Dunleavy’s sore ankle and Kevin Love’s food poisoning.
In the game against the Pelicans, Love posted double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds despite he hadn't fully recovered from the food poisoning. Center Tristan Thompson praised Love to deliver a top class performance as reported by ESPN. Thompson had once experienced food poisoning himself which required him to take IV before the game, therefore he knew the difficulties to play in such condition.
"I told him for him to be able to put up a double-double with food poisoning, that means he's pretty, uh, bleep(ing) good of a player. Because I couldn’t do that,” Thompson said.
Coach Tyronn Lue could not afford to lose all three of Love, Irving and James. Therefore He played James on the floor alongside Thompson and Frye, While in the back court, he played DeAndre Liggins and Jordan McRae.
However, Chicago Bulls overpowered Cavaliers and winning the game 106-94. Although James contributed 31 points and 8 rebounds but he was unable to lift his team. He also hurt his ankle after colliding with Michael Carter-Williams in the third quarter. Watch the incident below:
