Producers of "2 Days & 1 Night" have finally confirmed the return of Jung Joon Young on the show after the singer was cleared of the accusations pressed by his ex-girlfriend.
According to Allkpop, the announcement was made on Friday, stating that the show has been discussing on a possible Jung Joon Young comeback on "2 Days & 1 Night" since the singer was proven innocent.
"The final decision is made for him to return in January. Jung Joon Young has participated in the first recording on the 6th, and the broadcast is scheduled for the 15th," the producers said.
They added, "The producers and the members appreciate the viewers for giving concern and love. "2 Days & 1 Night" will work even harder from now on to create a variety show that can give laughter to the viewers."
According to reports, Jung Joon Young had to leave "2 Days & 1 Night" in September to face a legal battle against his ex-girlfriend. The artist was accused of allegedly filming their intimate moment without informing the other person involved.
A few days after coming out to reveal the accusation, the ex-girlfriend denied her first statement and said Jung Joon Young is innocent. In October, the singer was acquitted and the case had been dismissed.
On the other hand, Jung Joon Young is set to release a new solo album on top of his return on "2 Days & 1 Night," Soompi reported. C9 Entertainment confirmed the news and added that the artist would like to focus on his music career more than anything else.
"We will be prioritizing work for his album, respecting his desire to return to his fans through music before anything else. Please cheer him on as he comes back with upgraded music," the label said.
