Nina Dobrev might reprise Elena in "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8. The CW President Mark Pedowitz may have teased her return to the series in a recent interview on Sunday.
Pedowitz addressed questions about Dobrev's return as Elena in "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 during the Television Critics Association Press tour. He declined to give an outright confirmation, but teased her return as a possibility.
"The best way I can answer that question is Julie [Plec], Kevin [Williamson], the studio and The CW promise a fantastic series finale," Entertainment Weekly qouted Pedowitz as saying.
Did Pedowitz just hint that Dobrev could return as Elena in "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 finale? It is interesting to point out that the actress also returned to voice her character in the Season 7 ender. Likewise, series creator Julie Plec had since revealed that Dobrev promised to make another appearance in the show.
Plec talked about Dobrev's return to the final run of The CW series in an interview at the 2016 San Diego Comic Convention. She revealed that she had talked to the actress about another possible appearance in the show. The showrunner hinted that the "XXX: Return of Xander Cage" star agreed to do another cameo, possibly in "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 finale.
"Not to put too much pressure on anything, Nina Dobrev, but a promise was made. An emotional promise that I'd like to see come to life," Plec told TV Line.
Interestingly, the showrunner's second statement is a nod to Elena's current situation in the series. She is still asleep and whether she wakes up depends on Bonnie. After all, as long as Bonnie is alive then Elena remains asleep. However, Kat Graham (Bonnie) is set to leave the series. Perhaps her exit hints to Dobrev's return in "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8.
