It looks like the road ahead is bumpy for Stefan and Caroline in "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8. The couple had their fair share of happy moments in the early parts of the eighth season, but it appears things might be going south and their relationship put to the test.
In an upcoming episode, titled "The Next Time I Hurt Somebody, it Could Be You," Caroline hosts a Christmas Eve dinner with friends and family. However, Damon's unexpected arrival with Sybil causes tension in the gathering. Damon further provokes Caroline, so Caroline lashes out on Damon for ruining the party. The gathering is supposed to be a special event for Caroline and Stefan, especially since Cade will soon take away Stefan so that he can become a servant of the devil for eternity.
With everything that's going on in their lives, will Stefan and Caroline ever find time for their happily ever after?
In an interview with E! News, Paul Wesley hinted that although he doesn't know the particulars on Steroline in future episodes, he believes it would be weird if the couple doesn't wind up in marriage. However, Wesley also suggests that it would be an interesting twist if Caroline and Stefan didn't actually get married just to throw fans in a loop.
Aside from Stefan's situation with Cade and Damon, Seline has also taken Caroline's daughters. The twins are two of the people Caroline loves and cares for the most other than Stefan. Having them taken from her will affect her relationship with Stefan in a major way. Wesley tells EW that that particular episode shows the "weird dismantling of Stefan and Caroline" as the kidnapping issue definitely puts a strain on their relationship.
Will Caroline and Stefan make it through every problem they are faced it? Will they make it down the aisle by the end of the eighth and final season?
