"Passengers" actress Jennifer Lawrence prefers to play Mystique in the upcoming action film "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" than in the next sci-fi film "X-Men." She had her interview with MTV during a junket with her "Passengers" co-star Chris Pratt.
According to Variety, Lawrence would love to appear in the "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2," and she would choose it over doing another "X-Men" movie. She is wondering if she could be Mystique in the former rather than the latter.
Lawrence said that she is like graduating from "The Hunger Games" and "X-Men." She said that it was scary to make the first step, but she has faith in the material. The actress added that she is not nervous, which is a very strong indicator that the Mystique character was for her.
Lawrence has been wishy-washy about her future with the "X-Men" franchise because when she was asked about shooting "X-Men: Apocalypse" in an interview in 2015, she said that it would be her last one. However, after a year later, she said that she was dying to come back to the franchise. The chances of her jokey response coming true are slim to none considering the "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" is in postproduction.
Meanwhile, Pratt and Lawrence recently launched their sci-fi film "Passengers." During their press tour for the film, they were caught up for an exclusive interview. The two were asked how they imagined a meeting between their Marvel characters would go down similar to Aurora Lane (Lawrence) and Jim Preston (Pratt) in the film, Comic Book reported.
"Passengers" centers on a spacecraft traveling to a distant colony planet and transporting thousands of people. It malfunctions in its sleep chambers. As a result, two passengers are awakened 90 years early.
"Passengers" was released on Dec. 21, 2016. "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" is set to hit theaters on May 5.
