South Korean boy band WINNER has recently shared their thoughts on being compared to their label mate Big Bang and “top contending” group iKON.
The group members admitted that they still have a long way to go in order to follow the steps of Big Bang. However, they added that they don’t want to live under the shadow of their senior as they want to build a reputation of their own.
On the other hand, when it comes to iKON, who had been their rival group since the beginning of their career, the boys stated that they are looking forward to being with them in the waiting rooms and compete with them on music charts as well. However, despite the competition being propelled between the two groups, WINNER expressed their appreciation to iKON’s new songs.
"How can we possibly fill in the emptiness of Big Bang sunbaenim? We are still lacking. But it's necessary for us to build WINNER's own music with the goal of becoming a group with continuous growth like Big Bang. In order to do so, I think it's our responsibility to set the right direction," stated WINNER as quoted by All KPop.
The group continued regarding iKON: "... I think we'll be loud and playful in the waiting rooms. I think it'll also be fun to compete with them on the charts. Their music has a different vibe to ours... I heard that iKON's new songs are good too. I'm looking forward to it."
Meanwhile, the behind-the-scene clips of the band’s latest single “Really Really” has been recently revealed online. According to a report by All KPop, the music video was directed by the renowned director Dave Meyers.
