Fox's has unveiled the first official teaser for its new Marvel TV "Gifted." Here's everything we know so far about the show.
Marvel "Gifted" plot
"Gifted" tells the story of two ordinary parents who discover that their children possess mutant powers. They're lives turn upside down as they are forced to flee from the hostile government that is hunting down mutants. The family later encounters an underground network of mutants. Together, they all fight to survive.
The show's premise highlights a lot of political themes and social issues such as alienation and persecution.
The "Gifted" pilot episode is directed by "X-Men" vet Bryan Singer based on a script written by Matt Nix, TVLine reports.
Marvel "Gifted" cast
The "Gifted" cast feature some familiar faces, including "True Blood" star Stephen Moyer and "Persons of Interest" actress Amy Acker. "Reign" alum Sean Teale stars as Eclipse/Marcos Diaz, Coby Bell as Jace Turner, Emma Dumont as Polaris/Lorna Dane and "The Lying Game" actor Blair Redford as Thunderbird/John Proudstar.
Jamie Chung is also confirmed to play Blink, Variety reports. Blink, a.k.a. Clarice Fong, is described as a "sarcastic, lively and a bit of a tomboy." The character was previously seen in "X-Men: Days of Future Past," and portrayed by Fan Bingbing.
Is the show connected to the "X-Men" movie universe?
Unlike FX's "Legion," which focuses on David Haller's struggles with his mutant powers and mental health issues, Fox's "Gifted" will tie up with the "X-Men" movie universe in a general way.
I'm not slavishly fitting them into a particular slot, But at the same time, if you like the world of the movies, there are definite nods to the movies. It exists in the same general universe," Nix tells Forbes.
Marvel's "Gifted" release date
The show is expected to arrive in Fox this fall. Stay tuned for further details.
