Cantonese pop girl group Super Girls (previously known as Icon Girls) have released the Cantonese version of the theme song of the anime series Sailor Moon Crystal, titled Moon Pride.
The entertaining music video, released on Thursday, June 9 on YouTube, now has 1,359 views and 110 likes. The person behind the catchy tune is Revo, the leader of Japanese band Sound Horizon. Revo not only wrote the song, but also arranged and composed it.
The lyrics of Moon Pride, on the other hand, were written by Chris Shum, a lyricist who won an award in Hong Kong for Best Original Film Song for Perhaps Love.
Of course, as the song relects the theme of anime Sailor Moon Crystal, it is about getting through difficulties and working as a team to fight against evil forces.
Super Girls is composed of Cheronna, Heidi, Jessica, Yanny and Aka, the group's leader.
Before they made their debut as a girl group, they were all working as models under the agency, Jam Cast Management (Hong Kong) Ltd. The group was formed in 2012 by the record label Stars Shine International.
Their debut single was Be My Love, which was available in two languages, Mandarin and Cantonese. They released their only album to date, Super Girl Era, a few months after, promoting it by appearing on various television shows. They have continued to release singles such as Flash On, I Belong to U and Lost in Tokyo.
