"Gotham" casts Camren Bicondova and Robin Lord Taylor teases a darjer turn for their characters on the show's Season 3.
Bicondova plays Selina Kyle aka "Catwoman" while Taylor plays Oswald Cobblepot aka "The Penguin" in the pre-batman television series. "Gotham" will explore the beginnings of these supervillains as streetwise teenage troublemakers.
Without divulging any spoilers, both actors said that their characters are going darker when "Gotham" returns for a new season, Comic Book reported.
"I think Selina is always exploring that without even knowing, because she has a genuine heart, she's very loyal, and she's very honest and intelligent. But I think just as natural as her good-heartedness is her evilness. This season we're actually going to be seeing her go down a darker path, and I'm so excited," Bicondova said.
As for "The Penguin," Taylor said that his character now has nothing to lose after losing his loved ones.
"The great thing about this season is after last season, having the two people that [Oswald] loves, in the entire world, taken away from him, he now has full license to go completely psychotic. There's nothing holding him back. That's sort of the overall theme of our show, about love and the loss of love, and to love someone is to be vulnerable," he said.
Over the last two seasons, their origin stories featured some fearsome foes that will bring impact to how they will reach their master criminal status.
"Gotham" Season 3 have been dubbed with the catch-phrase, "Heroes Will Fall," apparently noting that we will see more villains in the upcoming season. Bicondova and Taylor joins the expanded villain ensemble with Benedict Samuel as The Mad Hatter and Maggie Geha as Poison Ivy, Screen Rant reported.
Other villains who are set to make an appearance are The Court of Owls and Solomon Grundy. Actors for these roles have not been announced by Fox so stay tuned.
"Gotham" Season 3 will return on September 19, 2016.
