Google finally announced its newest operating system (OS) build, Android 7.0 Nougat which will be available in compatible handsets including Sony Xperia Z5 Premium and Xperia X Performance.
In the latest announcement of Sony, the X variants smartphones including Sony Xperia X, Xperia X Performance, Xperia XA Ultra and Xperia XA are all compatible with the new Google OS. The company also assured that owners of older handsets should not worry as Sony Xperia Z3+, Xperia Z5, Xperia Z4 tablet, Xperia Z5 Compact and Xperia Z5 Premium will all experience the new features of Android 7.0 Nougat, Sony Mobile reported.
Sony explained that the availability and timing of software rollouts depend on the operator and market. However, the company has exerting effort in incorporating updates with all their devices at the quickest time to satisfy users with the latest functionalities and features.
On the other hand, HTC announced that its ONE M8 model will not receive the new OS while same with Nexus 5. HTC 10, One A9 and One M9 will be updated later this year. Further, Nexus 6P, Nexus 6, Nexus 5X, Nexus 9, Nexus 5X and Google Pixel C will all get the updates as soon as the new OS' release, Tech Radar reported.
Recent flagship phones or those that were released not more than two years ago are candidates for OS upgrade while some devices are still waiting for Android Marshmallow updates.
Google has informed Android users that they can expect improved battery management with the new OS. Data saver option, file-based encryption, seamless updates and direct boot are all expected from Android 7.0 Nougat.
