"Blue Bloods" star Jennifer Esposito and "Grey's Anatomy" alum Wilmer Valderrama join "NCIS" Season 14 as series regular. "Doctors" actor Duane Henry comes back in the crime mystery series. The new series will air on Sept. 20 at 8 p.m. ET.
"NCIS" Season 14 adds two new characters and another returning cast on the crew. The first promo teaser for the new season of the American television series revealed hints on how the story would carry on. An original cast member Michael Weatherly decided to leave the series after 13 years.
Two new agents Alexandra "Alex" Quinn (Esposito) and Nicholas "Nick" Torres (Valderrama) will be in place of the character Anthony "Tony" DiNozzo (Weatherly) in "NCIS" Season 14. Henry will also recur as MI6 Officer Clayton Reeves. Valderrama said that he will be in his own character and will not be a mere replacement of NCIS Special Agent DiNozzo.
During his visit with Michael Ausiello at TVLine's Comic-Con studio presented by ZTE, Valderrama even joked that there is definitely no more room to fit them all in the squad room. He added that "NCIS" Season 14 will be evolved into something else as the new characters come in, challenging the genre, as TV Line reported.
According to TV Guide, NCIS showrunner Gary Glasberg tipped that in Tony's absence, Tim McGee (Sean Murray) has been promoted to a senior field agent. McGee will have a tremendous responsibility as he takes over the mantle. He is speculated to pop the wedding proposal question to Delilah (Margo Harshman), making another exciting development before the "NCIS" Season 14 ends.
The plot of "NCIS" Season 14 is about a fatal car explosion in Washington. This explosion was apparently linked to Torres and will be investigated by the team of Gibbs (Mark Hammon). Gibbs will have to ask a favor to Torres since there is no agent yet to replace Weatherly in the team. He also asked an undercover agent who disappeared in Argentina for six months due to an assignment and Quinn and an instructor at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center to be part also of the team.
