Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone is reportedly upset with director Aanand L Rai for finalizing her rival Katrina Kaif as female lead in his next movie starring superstar Shahrukh Khan.

Initially, Padukone was considered to play female lead in the movie but she had turned down the offer due to her busy schedule and then "Tanu Weds Manu Returns" actress Kangana Ranaut became part of the romance drama. However, recent media reports suggested Katrina Kaif was finalized to play female lead opposite Khan in the untitled project, Hindustan Times newspaper reported.

"Dippy, who not just shares professional turf with Katrina but also a few degrees of separation via a certain Ranbir Kapoor, called the celebrated director asking him why she wasn't asked again, since she had finished with her foreign project already, and would have dates available for this one," Mumbai Mirror newspaper reported. Khan will be seen playing a 'dwarf' in the movie. This will be second time Khan and Kaif work together, as they have earlier worked in Yash Chopra-directorial "Jab Tak Hai Jaan."

Padukone is making her Hollywood debut in Vin Diesel' "XxX: Return of Xander Cage" in which she will be seen together with Hollywood stars like Ruby Rose, Nina Dobrev and Samuel L Jackson. She will soon start working on her next Bollywood project "Padmavati" opposite her rumored boyfriend Ranveer Singh. Kaif, on the other hand, is busy with promotions of her recently released romance drama "Baar Baar Dekho" opposite Sidharth Malhotra.
