"Sense8" Season 2 will continue without co-creator Lilly Wachowski and will introduce new sensates that will help core characters to time travel. Lilly, who is taking some time off the series, is welcome to return.
In an interview, the cast revealed that "Sense8" Season 2 will introduce older sensates who will help the the eight sensates to travel between the past and present, Chicago Sun Times reported. They went to reveal that the new season will explore the motivations and the backstory of the characters.
Cast member Daryl Hannah who plays Angelica Turing in the series said that lone showrunner Lana is always coming up with creative ideas as they shoot.
"Lana is this whirl of imagination and creativity that just never stops. She's just always evolving and coming up with things and expanding and deepening and developing as we shoot," she said.
Lilly is taking a break from the show after coming out as a transgender, with the option to return for a third season if the series will be renewed, Nerdist reported. Other changes to the series includes the recasting of Capheus, when the original actor decided to leave the series over creative differences. Newcomer Toby Onwumere will replace Aml Ameen who used to play Capheus.
"Sense8" is a sci-fi drama created by Michael Straczynski and The Wachowskis for Netflix. It tells the story of eight strangers from different cultures and parts of the world who are mentally and emotionally linked.
"Sense8" Season 2 premieres on 2017 with a special episode set to air this Christmas.
