Netflix earlier announced that "Bloodline" Season 3 will be the series' finale on the streaming giant. Although, fans of the Florida Keys thriller-drama are still hopeful for more upcoming seasons, Sony shows no interest in finding another outlet to stream the series.
In June, Co-creator Todd A. Kessler talked about multiple seasons for the series. He also revealed their plans on Ben Mendelsohn's character, Danny, who will always die like in "Crime and Punishment," Deadline reported.
Despite the promising plot, it was indeed a bombshell when Cindy Holland, Netflix's VP Original content confirmed that "Bloodline" Season 3 will end the series' storyline.
"We are looking forward to the exciting climax KZK have in store for the series conclusion in May 2017," she said.
Sony TV hasn't made any statement yet, but it's crystal clear that the creators will conclude the series. It is also impossible to stream the series elsewhere since it's a Netflix original, Deadline added.
Moreover, Vulture listed some possible reasons as to why the series has been cancelled. According to its sources, Sony receives around $7 million and $8.5 million per hour, or $70 million to $85 million for a ten-episode season. In spite of this huge amount of money, "Bloodline" might have not obtained high viewership and does not compensate its cost.
The series did not also make it to the of TV's prestige dramas list and did not cause any hype among Netflix subscribers. Hence, this could be another reason to its cancellation.
On the other news, "Bloodline" star Ben Mendelsohn won his first Grammy for Best Supporting Actor for the Drama series category after his Emmy and Gold Globe nomination.
"Bloodline" Season 3 will be aired some time in 2017 with ten episodes. It will join other Netflix originals "Hemlock Grove" and "Lilyhammer" that concluded with just three seasons.
