"Snowden" actor Nicolas Cage has signed on to star in the independent thriller "Looking Glass". "Jack White: I'm Shakin" director Dori Oskowitz will be helming it.
"Looking Glass" follows a couple who experienced a tragic loss, Vulture reported. After which, they purchase a desert motel. They soon discover a series of disturbing, unexplained events taking place within one of the frequently requested rooms.
According to Variety, the script for "Looking Glass" is written by "Mojave Phone Booth" Jerry Rap and "Dog Eat Dog" Matthew Wilder. Highland Film Group is handling the worldwide sales.
"The Canyons" film producer Braxton Pope is producing "Looking Glass". He just finished the Fullscreen series "The Deleted." The series was written and directed by Bret Easton Ellis.
Cage previously worked with Pope and Highland Film Group on the crime thriller "The Trust," alongside Elijah Wood and Sky Ferreira. The film premiered at South by Southwest (SXSW) Conference and Festivals back in March. He also starred in Wilder's "Dog Eat Dog" with Willem Dafoe that premiered at the Cannes International Film Festival 2016.
Cage is represented by CAA and manager Nilon. He can be seen also in Oliver Stone's recently released thriller "Snowden" as a former U.S. intelligence officer Hank Forrester. He joined Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Edward Snowden) and Shailene Woodley (Snowden's girlfriend).
Cage also made an appearance as Captain Charles Butler McVay in "USS Indianapolis: Men of Courage." His ship was torpedoed in the South Pacific in July 1945 after delivering parts for the first atomic bombs. The film was developed for five years to consult the survivors, the U.S. Navy, and the U.S. Coast Guard. It was just released last week.
"Looking Glass" will be produced in association with Prettybird Pictures. The production will start this fall. The executive producers are Link's Mike Nilon, Silver State Production Services' head Jason Miller, Steven Soderbergh's "Traffic" executive producer Cameron Jones, and the tandem Arianne Fraser and Delphine Perrier.
