Although government of China is bannning Hallyu star related to the deployment of THAAD in South Korea, but Song Hye-Kyo is an undisputedly the most popular star in China. She won the "Goddess of Asia" title in a popular Chinese magazine.

Song received the title after an online voting throughout China put her upfront ahead of other stars in Asia. She won the title by beating her competitors even the China's own star Zheng Shuang, who was leading since the beginning of the competition.

"Goddess of Asia" is the online pageant held by Contemporary Asian Goddess Entertainment Network and fans can vote online through social media outlets such as Weibo, Facebook, Twitter or Instagram page. The winners are selected from twelve candidates as listed in the organizer website.

The voting divided into six rounds since July. In the final round, Song won the voting with 3,583,343 votes and followed by Runner-Up the "Running Man" cast Song Ji-Hyo with 3,562,099 votes. While Zheng Suang is in the fifth position after securing 3,559,244 votes.

This election is difficult for Hallyu stars because of the political tension between China and South Korea starting August. Following the deployment of U.S. Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) in South Korea in July, China banned all Korean TV to air in the country since September. There is also a growing number of anti Korea sentiment in China after the deployment of THAAD.

Meanwhile in the latest news, China's most influential daily newspaper People Daily issued a statement regarding the missile as reported by CNBC. The newspaper wrote in commentary section in its Satuday edition, "If the United States and South Korea harm the strategic security interests of countries in the region including China, then they are destined to pay the price for this and receive a proper counter-attack."

People Daily is the official media outlet of the Chinese Communist Party, and its news and editorial report represent the Chinese government policy.
