Many times it's sad to see great shows end, but other times it'll be for the best for both the audiences and producers. Such is the case with FX's "Archer" series, which is going to end at its 10th season, according to the writer and executive Adam Reed.
According to a recent episode of the Modern School of Film's Murmur podcast (via HitFix), the director mentioned that he originally initially wanted the show to end at Season 8 but "had sort of a brain explosion of a way" and decided to continue on with a few more seasons. He then decided that Season 10 will be the series' finale.
Reed even added that the series will be shorter in the last three seasons this time, with each of them just having eight episodes. The director even added that Seasons 8 to 10 will be "pretty different" from each other and the rest of the previous seasons as well.
The reason why the show's writer and executive decided to hang up the cape (or spy suit, in a manner of speaking) was because he wanted to maintain the show for it really is. While Reed has been enjoying the last seven seasons and intends on adding three more, he thinks that shows will have to stop at some point. Although it is still possible that "Archer" can still go on, he would rather use those "creative energies" in "coming up with something new rather than continuing the same thing."
Meantime, it was also previously announced that "Archer" won its first Outstanding Animated Series Emmy award, according to Deadline. It was actually the episode "The Figgis Agency" that actually earned the show its award.
"Archer" Season 8 will be premiering sometime January 2017.
