As the new Golden State Warriors has become the new superteam, head coach Steve Kerr said he will try many possibilities and experiments with the roster. The team aim for the championship this season.
Kerr said that his experiment will include the trial and error and less intensity than last seasons's record breaking regular season. He said in an interview with ESPN that he will not aim for making another the regular season's record, but pursuing the championship.
"Last year we felt like we could do both -- and we were pretty close -- but we couldn't pull it off," Kerr said. "This year's more about just growing and getting better and experimenting the first couple months of the season."
Kerr said that experiment is necessary to find the right combination. When Kevin Durant joined the team, he has to ensure that the star-studded team are all working toward the same goal according to Bleacher Report. Therefore, Ker will have to make experiments with his roster and making his team to relinquish their ego and personal agenda.
As a member of 1996-1998 Chicago Bulls with Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen, that won three consecutive NBA titles in 1996 to 1998, Kerr understand very the importance of managing star players. Subsequenly, after he also won two other NBA titles with San Antonio Spurs in 1999 and 2003 with David Robinson and Tim Duncan.
Playing under two great NBA coaches for many years, Phil Jackson in the Bulls and Greg Popovich in the Spurs, Kerr learnt the Jackson's triangle offense and Popovich system very well. Kerr is known to be one of the coaches who is able to combine the triangle offense for the half-court situation and the rotation game for the full court.
The result is an interesting play by Golden State Warriors which earned them the 2015 NBA title. Now, the team has been replenished with Durant, who will strengthen the team's defense and low-post with Draymond Green. Kerr have many possibilities to explore and execute the best game strategy.
